Philippines beat Korea, the Ranked No.1 team in the tournament, 19-14 on their second game of the first day of 2011 Shanghai Open as the biggest upset on the tournamnet. Earlier the Philippine Volcanoes defeated UAE, 24-7.

The tournament is scheduled on August 27-28 in China. As the first stop in the HSBC Asian Sevens Series, the Shanghai Sevens will host the top 12 sides from across the continent including hosts China along with Hong Kong, Japan and two time defending champions Korea.
