At 12:00 n.n. today, 24 August 2012, the eye of Typhoon "JULIAN " was located based on satellite and surface data at 1,030 km East of Basco, Batanes (21.5°N 133.2°E) according to weather bureau, PAGASA.
"JULIAN" with International codename 'Bolaven' has maintained its strength as it moves in a northwestward direction. Estimated rainfall amount is from 10 - 35 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 600 km diameter of the Typhoon.
Typhoon "JULIAN" is expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon that will bring rains over the western section of the country.

Meanwhile, at 1:00 p.m. today, 24 August 2012, the eye of Typhoon "IGME" was located based on satellite and surface data at 270 km Northwest of Basco, Batanes (22.3°N 119.9°E).
“Typhoon Igme is forecast to make a counter-clockwise looping motion within the next 24-48 hours due to its interaction with Typhoon Julian,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in a bulletin.
