The Philippine national men’s basketball team leaned on its big fighting heart to prevail. Gilas Pilipinas defeated South Korea, 86-79, to crash the finals of the FIBA Asia Championship on Saturday at the Mall of Asia.

Jimmy Alapag started to energize the team with a 3-point shot. Pingris made a big steal and Ranidel De Ocampo successfully sank a three-pointer. Alapag played well at crunchtime. Gilas was ahead by five less than a minute to go in the final period. 

Pingris made a very important defensive stance against Korea. He, Alapag and Castro were among the heroes for the game, but the rest of the team exerted everything they can to win the match.
