AlDub is a fictional supercouple pairing of Alden Richards and Yaya Dub from the Philippine daytime variety series Eat Bulaga! Its name is derived from a portmanteau of the tandem's character names–Filipino actor Alden Richards, who portrays a fictionalized version of himself; and Yaya Dub, portrayed by Filipina voice dubbing actress Maine Mendoza. Both joining the program's cast in 2015, Richards first appeared as a host of Eat Bulaga! 's various segments, such as the "That's My Bae" portion; while Mendoza originally appeared as Yaya Dub in the show "Juan for All, All for Juan" segment. Exclusively interacting through the show's split screen frame, the AlDub couple are still yet to meet personally for the first time, only communicating by dubbing audio samples of popular songs, films and TV series.
