The UAAP Season 78 seniors division basketball tournament will begin on September 5, 2015. The tournament host is the University of the Philippines and the tournament commissioner is Atty. Rene "Rebo" Saguisag, Jr together with his deputies Romy Guevarra, Joe Lipa and Bai Cristobal.[4] Referees from BRASCU will be used for the officiating, while UAAP will adopted FIBA rules on technicals, timeouts, among others.

The UAAP Season 78 juniors division basketball tournament will start on November 14, 2015. The tournament venue will be at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym. FEU is the tournament host. The Ateneo Blue Eaglets are the defending champions.

The FEU Tamaraws nearly ended their own title drought in the UAAP last season, but they were outlasted by the NU Bulldogs in the finals. In Season 78, the Tamaraws are again considered one of the title favorites, as they will bring back the core of their team, including Gilas Cadets Mike Tolomia and Mac Belo.
