Former President Gloria Arroyo will undergo surgery due to damaged cervical spine. Based on the reportand according to her attending physician, Dr. Juliet Cervantes, said an operation must be done immediately to prevent a likely paralysis.
“This can lead to paralysis. Tests are being conducted for her surgery,” Cervantes said as she issued the latest medical bulletin at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City.
“The surgery will decompress the nerves and align the cervical bones. The surgery is risky since it involves the spinal cord and nerves that enable hand movement and breathing,” Cervantes told a press conference.
Arroyo was rushed to St. Lukes Medical center yesterday- July 25, 2011 in time with the 2nd State of the Nation Address by President Noynoy Aquino.
