The UAAP Season 85 Men and Women's Volleyball commenced last Saturday, February 25 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. The defending Champion NU Lady Bulldogs is currently ranked at No. 1 together with last season's runner-up the De La Salle Univerity Lady Spikers. NU has beaten the ADMU Blue Eagles on the opening day in straight sets while pushed by AdU Lady Falcons in 5 thrilling sets in their second game on March 1, 2023. On the other hand, the DLSU Lady Spikers headed by super rookie Angel Canino had a 5 sets battle on their opening game against the Eya Laure-led squad, the UST Growling Tigresses.
As early as this stage, I can tell that my final four will be the NU Lady Bulldogs, DLSU lady Spikers, UST Growling Tigresses, and Adamson Lady Falcons. The crowd favorite Ateneo Blue Eagles need to step up their game in order to be in the Final Four. Faith Nisperos will need strong support from Vannie Gandler and the rest of the team in order to beat the DLSU on Sunday, March 5 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Earlier the ADMU Blue Eagles got their first win via four sets against the UE Lady Red Warriors.
In the Finals, I will choose NU Lady Bulldogs versus UST Growling Tigresses or AdU Lady Falcons.
