The Philippine dragon boat team won five gold medals and two silver medals as they dominated five rowing events and set two new world records, besting countries such as Australia, Hungary, Italy, Trinidad and Tobago.
On their press conference held earlier, the Philippine Dragon Boat Team members said to those people accusing them of using steroids to study and better think about of what they are accusing of.
"Yun lang po ang gusto naming mangyari, PDBF is the governing body of the Dragon Boath in the Philippines. 'Yun lang po ang kailangan namin, ibalik sa amin and dating amin".
"Masuportahan ng ating gobyerno ang Dragon Boat Team as a separate sports, na hindi siya isailalimsa ano, sa Canoe-Kayak dahil iba yung sports".
"There;s no way that the sports in the Philippines will succeed if there's politics"
"With regards to the claim na ampaw,aah! panoorin na lang po nila ang karera".
"Pag-aralan muna nilang mabuti kung ano ang sinasabi nila" wherein they are referring to what Col. Jeff, Board Director of POC, that they are using steroid, which the latter said he did say it in context.
"I mentioned the ampaw, I mentioned the steriod but in context", I said baka ampaw na 'yan, or ampaw siguro nandyan pa ang katawan but the real strength of an individual baka wala na dyan. And so, I didn't use d it to put people down, it was meant na may transition ang buhay ng isang atleta, according to Col.Tamayo.
