The Philippine dragon boat team won five gold medals and two silver medals as they dominated five rowing events and set two new world records, besting countries such as Australia, Hungary, Italy, Trinidad and Tobago.

The Filipinos in Tampa Bay went all out in their support of the Dragon Warriors. Every day during the week-long competition, Filipinos cheered on the Dragon Warriors in every event that they competed in. The Filipino community also brought food and drinks for the champion athletes. The Dragon Warriors were grateful for the support that their fellow Filipinos gave them.
