How to vote for  Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Underground River for  "New7Wonders of Nature"?

President Benigno Simeon Aquino III on Monday led the text and internet voting to help the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) be named as one of the seven wonders of nature.

In his speech during the official proclamation launch of the PPUR as one of the 28 finalists in the search for the New Seven Wonders of Nature, Aquino urged the country's 80 million cellphone subscribers to type PPUR and send it to 2861.
“We send two billion text messages a day, all we need is one billion text votes for the Puerto Princesa Underground River so (we can accomplish) that in half a day," the President said.

“I’m urging everyone again, sorry if I’m sounding makulit, I urge everyone to vote to the maximum for the Puerto Princesa Underground River as one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature. Let us make the PPUR one of the New Seven Wonders of the World," he reiterated.


The subterranean river is nominated as one of the new 7 Wonders of Nature. It was once called the St. Paul underground river. Vote for it by clicking this link.

Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is one of the most important conservation areas in the Philippines. It was created to protect the impressive cave systems, lush old growth tropical rainforest, interesting wildlife, unspoiled natural beauty of the area and one of the most impressive cave system in the world. Its main focus is 8.2 km. long underground river that flows beneath a spectacular limestone formation before directly emptying into the sea.

It is a core area for the Palawan Biosphere Reserve and is designated as an Important Bird Area (IBA). It was also declared as a National Geological Monument. In recognition of global significance, the PPSRNP has been inscribed to the list of natural World Heritage Sites.

As a natural area, the Park has attracted an increasing number of hikers, biologist, photographers, students and nature lovers. The trip from Puerto Princesa city center takes anywhere from an hour and forty to and almost 2 hours to get to the underground river depending on the weather.

Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo urged governors and mayors throughout the country to take a more active role in campaigning for the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) to become one of the world’s New Seven Wonders of Nature.
“Ang pakiusap po natin sa mga mayors at governors na bago mag-umpisa ang kanilang mga pulong ay ilabas muna nila ang kanilang cell phones at mag-text upang bumoto para sa PPUR," said Robredo.
People can cast their votes in the worldwide search by texting PPUR then sending it to 2861, or logging on to www.new7wonders.com.

When I voted a few months back Puerto Princesa Underground River is ranked at Number 25 ahead of Komodo, Sundarbans and Jeju Island (But right now I just cannot find the current rankings instead they have now, 'voting trend' and currently Puerto Princesa Underground River is ranked No.2 in voting trend.


The finalists ranked according to how many votes they have received in the past four weeks from outside their country or countries of origin. The Official New7Wonders of Nature is a worldwide campaign, so finalists should try to achieve a minimum of 90% of international votes. Therefore Overseas Filipino Workers and Filipino immigrants all over the world have the most power to vote since their online vote have the most bearing.
