7.1 Magnitude Earthquake in Alaska- Latest Update

The U.S. Geological Service issued, then canceled, a tsunami warning for Alaska's Aleutian Islands. USGS also lowered the magnitude to 6.8 Earthquakes have struck both Alaska and Southern California in the past 24 hours, less than two weeks after an extraordinary quake on the East Coast. The Alaska quake on Friday registered a magnitude-7.1that was later lowered to a 6.8 magnitude and sparked a tsunami warning south-east of the remote Aleutian Islands.


The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake struck in the waters at about 6:55 a.m. ET. There were no reports of injuries or damage, according to Alaska's KTUU.com.
