NCR Afternoon Classes Suspended on September 26 by DepED

Citing bad weather conditions brought by Tropical Storm Pedring (Nesat), the Department of Education on Monday suspended afternoon classes in Metro Manila.

DepEd Metro Manila director Elena Ruiz said this covers private and public schools in the preschool, elementary and high school levels.

"Dahil sa magiging masama [ang lagay ng panahon] pagdating ng hapon, pinapasya namin sa NCR na suspendihin ang klase simula 12 ng araw na ito (Due to the forecast bad weather in the evening, we decided to suspend afternoon classes in Metro Manila starting noon)," Ruiz said in an interview on dzBB radio.

At 4:00 a.m. today, Tropical Storm "PEDRING" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 260 km East Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes (15.2°N, 126.7°E) with maximum sustained winds of 110 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 140 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 17 kph.

Forecast:
Isabela, Aurora, Catanduanes, Polillo Island, Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur will experience stormy weather while the rest of Eastern Luzon will have rains and gusty winds and the coastal waters along these areas will be rough. The rest of the country will be cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds coming from the Northeast to Northwest will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and coming from the Southwest to West over the rest of the country and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
