Video- Pinoy AeroDragons dragon boat team sets World Record

LONG BEACH, Calif.– The AeroDragons dragon boat team paddled toward their world record open sea crossing. They left Catalina Island at 5 last Saturday, and after 5 hours and 39 minutes in the water completed 34.32 miles. The team arrived at their final destination in Long Beach to loud cheers. “It feels good especially because it’s the first time. We’re really excited for it,” team member Raymond Villegas said.

“It’s an amazing feat, it’s never been done over the Catalina Channel, in open ocean in a dragon boat. It’ll be hard to beat for any other team,” team captain Mary Cordero Melton said.

In the ocean, the multi-racial and mixed-gender dragon boat crew had to pass whales and waves in the wake of big ships. Read Full Story...
