Report says, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has already ordered the closure of the BS Marine Transportation (BSMT) and BS Marine Engineering (BSMarE) programs at PMI Colleges, Manila and Quezon City campuses effective 2nd semester of SY 2011-2012. I remember, 15 years ago, I was supposed to enrol in PMI for Marine Engineering course but I was not able to pursue, as I got a scholarship from another school.
Meanwhile the order will means that no new students shall be admitted to the said programs and its existing students shall be transferred to other schools that are recognized by CHED and also offer the same courses. However, the order shall not affect graduating students of PMI in the above courses for AY 2011-2012. The closure was ordered after PMI consistently failed to comply with the standards of the said programs.
