San Beda College defeated San Sebastian, 57-55, Wednesday to sweep the 87th NCAA men’s basketball championship series Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.
David Semerad converted seven points in the fourth quarter including a short stab off a Garvo Lanete pass with 53.6 seconds left in the game to complete the Red Lions route to their 16th men’s basketball title in the league and their fifth in the last six seasons.
Lions, who missed big man Sudan Daniels all-season long, were trailing the Stags until halfway into the 4th quarter when Frankie Lim's squad grabbed the lead 55-52, with 5 minutes remaining. Dave Marcelo was named the Finals MVP.
