Here's the report from Yahoo Philippines:
Filipinos may witness spectacular skies this weekend, as hundreds of meteors are expected to radiate from constellation Draco.
The Draconids meteor shower, a "periodic shower" that brought "spectacular and brief meteor storms" in 1933 and 1945, is expected to be seen over the weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its Astronomical diary.
The meteor showers, expected to rain into the northern sky, will peak on the nights of October 8 (Saturday) and 9 (Sunday).
Given a "favorable sky condition," sky observers can expect at least 40 meteors or more per hour, said Pagasa.
"The radiant point for the meteor shower almost coincides with the head of the constellation Draco the Dragon," Pagasa added.
A "big and brilliant waxing gibbous moon" might however interfere with the meteor show, Pagasa noted.
If an astronomer's prediction of Draco "spewing" a thousand meteors in a single hour would prove true this October, the "outburst" would have to compete with the "light of the waxing moon," Pagasa added.
