The starting gun to the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 will fire on Saturday October 29 at 1200 GMT/UTC (1400 local time) in Alicante as six boats designed primarily to blast through the oceans battle for the first points, and an early psychological boost, in a quickfire inshore sprint.
The first in-port race will kick off the Volvo Ocean Race today, October 29 at 14:00 local time.
