Typhoon IGME re-entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility Update

Here's Typhoon IGME re-entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility Update! At 10:00 p.m. today, 27 August 2012, the eye of Typhoon "IGME" was located based on satellite and surface data at 200 km Northwest of Basco, Batanes (21.3°N 120.1°E).

Typhoon "IGME” has accelerated as it re-entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Location of eye/center: At 10:00 PM today, the eye of Typhoon “IGME” was located based on satellite and surface data at 200 km Northwest of Basco, Batanes (21.3°N, 120.1°E).

Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 130kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160kph. 



Movement: Northeast at 17 kph.

Forecast Positions: Typhoon “IGME” is expected to be at 400 km North of Basco, Batanes by tomorrow evening. By Wednesday morning, it will be 590 km North of Basco, Batanes or 160 km North Northeast of Taipei, Taiwan.

  • *Estimated rainfall amount is from 10-20 mm per hour (moderate to heavy) within the 600 km area of typhoon. 
  • *Typhoon “Igme” will enhance the Southwest Monsoon that will bring rains over the western section of Northern and Central Luzon. 
  • *Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the Seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon due to big waves generated by Typhoon “Igme”.
