BIR Historic 1 Trillion Tax Collection Mark

According to the latest posting from Official Gazette, BIR breaches 1 trillion collection mark

Based on preliminary and unofficial collection figures, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) breached the one trillion-collection mark as of December 17, 2012.

The BIR reported a cumulative collection for the period January to November 2012 of P969.34 billion. Considering projections of collections from other sources (e.g. RCOs, TRAs) still unaccounted for as of the said date, the BIR could have hit the 1 trillion mark much earlier.

The feat is historic for the men and women of the tax agency. The said the achievement also made Commissioner of Internal Revenue Kim S. Jacinto-Henares the “First Trillionaire Commissioner.”

The BIR is tasked to collect P1.066 trillion for 2012.
