According to GMA News report, the Philippine Team saved their best performance for last as they defeated the Southern California Fukienese Association (SCFA) representing the United States of America 81-77 in the finals of the Hong Kong Invitational tournament.
Gilas battled from behind to keep their immaculate record in the tournament. the combination of professional and amateur players representing the Philippines were down 45-40 at the half. However, they were able to trim the lead to 1 at 60-59 to start the fourth quarter.
