Ghost Pharmacists being probe by Board of Pharmacy

Report of Ghost Pharmacists is being investigated by Philippine Board of Pharmacy.

The Professional Regulatory Board of Pharmacy stated on April 19- Friday that it is seriously looking into reports about pharmacists allegedly allowing their registration certificates to be used by drugstores where they are not physically present. This practice violates the provision of Section 27 of Republic Act No. 5921 otherwise known as The New Pharmacy Law which requires every pharmacy or drugstore to be under the personal and immediate supervision of a registered pharmacist at all times when it is open for business.

Report from PRC added that measures are being undertaken by the Board to meet the increasing demand for pharmacists through career advocacy, monitoring of establishments, and pharmacy curriculum development.

The Board of Pharmacy also said it is intensifying efforts to monitor compliance of pharmacists by coordinating with the Food and Drug Administration, the Philippine Pharmacists Association and other stakeholders to ensure public safety.
