Margaret Thatcher dies at 87- London neighborhood rejoices?

Britain's first and only female prime minister Margaret Thatcher has died peacefully following a stroke at the age of 87.

Lord Tim Bell, a spokesman for the Thatcher family, confirmed the news Monday.

“It is with great sadness that Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning,” Bell said in a statement.

“It was with great sadness that I learned of Lady Thatcher’s death,” British Prime Minister David Cameron said. “We’ve lost a great leader, a great Prime Minister and a great Briton.”

Meanwhile, according to the report from Agence France-Presse, hundreds of people on Monday took to the main square in Brixton, an area of south London which suffered serious rioting in the 1980s, to celebrate the death of former prime minister Margaret Thatcher.

Report added that some people are holding notices saying "Rejoice -- Thatcher is dead", around 200 people gathered in the neighbourhood, a hotspot of alternative culture, and toasted her passing by drinking and dancing to hip-hop and reggae songs blaring from sound systems.
