The Commission on Elections (Comelec) sitting as the National Board of Canvassers Thursday night- May 16 proclaimed the top six senatorial winners, overruling a call by the United Nationalist Alliance to hold it on account of unresolved questions about the slow transmission of results.
UNA Senator-elect, Nancy Binay did not attend the proclamation since she felt that there is no substatial reason for Comelec to do the proclanmation at an early stage. Senator Nancy Binay airs her side during her interview on 24 Oras.
Proclaimed were five senators-elect from Team PNoy: Ma. Grace Poe-Llamanzares, Loren Legarda, Alan Peter Cayetano, Francis Joseph Escudero and Juan Edgardo Angara; and one from UNA, Nancy Binay who was fifth.
