Nelson Mandela, South African leader and apartheid foe, died Thursday at 95. Here are a selection of speeches he gave after his release from prison in 1990, and while as president in 1994.
Mandela gained international recognition for his anti-colonial stance, having received more than 250 honors which included the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize. According to reports, Mandela was depicted multiple times in movies and television shows such as “Mandela and de Klerk” (1997), “Goodbye Bafana” (2007), “Mrs. Mandela” (2009), “Invictus” (2009), and “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” (2013).
