Michael Christian Martinez will be the first figure skater to represent the Philippines at the Olympic Winter Games when he skates in Sochi in 2014. He is the only athlete from the Philippines competing in Sochi.
Martineztook up figure skating in 2005 at age eight in a shopping mall in Philippines. He began training in 2010 in the United States.
Michael was the flagbearer for the Philippines at the opening ceremony of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
