DFA Released Statement for Passport issuance backlog

DFA Secretary Albert F. del Rosario released a statement regarding the  passport issuance backlog

Statement of DFA Secretary Albert F. del Rosarioon the passport issuance backlog
[Released on August 14, 2015]

On the matter of the current passport backlog, the Department of Foreign Affairs wishes to clarify that the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is not responsible for the unfortunate delays.
On the subject of current delays in the issuance of passports, we would like to further clarify the following:

  1. There have been unexpected delays and these are attributed to technical difficulties in view of the preparations for the transfer of the facilities from the current BSP site to its new location in Batangas. These delays should be corrected within one month.
  2. The recent statement issued to the media which may have been interpreted to have attributed the delays to the BSP was inaccurate. The BSP has been a valued partner of the DFA and its delivery of service has been more than acceptable and in accordance with expectations.
  3. We regret that the DFA’s statement may have cast an unfair misimpression on the quality delivery of service and the full cooperation extended by the BSP.
