Ben Caguioa is the new Justice Secretary, replacing Leila de Lima

President Aquino appoints Ben Caguioa as Justice Secretary, replacing Leila de Lima.



The President appointed Chief Presidential Legal Counsel (CPLC) Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa as ad interim Secretary of Justice on October 12, 2015. Caguioa will be occupying the position previously held by Leila de Lima, who resigned to seek a senate seat.

Secretary Caguioa earned a degree in Economics (Honors Program) from the College of Arts and Sciences of Ateneo de Manila University in 1981, and graduated with honors from the Ateneo Law School in 1985, ranking fifth in his class. He was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1986 after placing fifteenth in the 1985 Bar examinations.

He was appointed CPLC by President Aquino in 2013.
