Vote for Solomon and Cervantes- Two Filipinos for the REAL LIFE HERO award

Two Pinoys have been nominated for the REAL LIFE HERO award. Let's vote for them! Thanks! Antonina Solomon is a Finacial Adviser, while Christopher Cervantes is a Seaman (OFW).

Solomon, Antonina S.

Mission first before commission is Nina's purpose for becoming a Philam Life Financial Advisor. She spends her life everyday with a determination to help Filipino families achieve financial security in times of crises.
It was a life-changing moment for her when she received the claim check when her husband passed away. Her grieving sparked a determination in her heart to make sure that in every client she spoke to, she would share with them the good news that it’s still possible to achieve their dreams no matter what would happen to them.
Being successful in her career, Nina also shares her bountiful blessings by generously sharing her time and experiences to several charitable institutions that helps children with their education and some with their illnesses. She, together with her agency manager, even organizes a yearly garage sale where this year’s proceeds went to the children in the pediatrics ward of the Philippines General Hospital.

She is a prime example that success in this business has always been about the mission of making a difference in other people's lives.

Cervantes, Christopher G.

In the last 30 years, millions of Filipinos have left the country and their families to seek better employment opportunities abroad to secure a brighter future for their loved ones. These Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) fought hard and gave everything that they could just to chase their dreams of a better life; so much so that they did not leave anything for themselves. Despite earning large amounts of money, not all return to the Philippines with enough financial security for themselves and for their families.

Chris Cervantes, a seafarer by profession, clearly witnessed how several OFW families, who initially struggled with meager salaries, still encountered difficulties to make both ends meet even with a higher income. In fact, they tend to spend more than ever. From buying expensive gadgets to trying out different restaurants, most OFWs think that money is always meant to be spent immediately. That reality prompted him to create his very own advocacy of providing free financial planning sessions to groups of seafarers during their vacant periods.

An inspiration to his colleagues, he eventually decided to expand his program to reach out to more OFWs. He even wrote two (2) books, entitled “Financial Planning for the Fast Changing World” and “Seed Money”. He was also nominated for “Angat Pilipinas” under the OFW category.
Through simple examples derived from his experiences as an OFW, he clearly presents how these financial disasters could be avoided and turned into sources of opportunity for financial success. Chris is indeed our real life hero as he continuously helps the OFWs achieve financial freedom from their jobs overseas to finally be re-united with their families.
