The groundbreaking of the Taguig Integrated Terminal Exchange (Taguig ITX), formerly known as the South ITS project, was held last January 2018 in FTI-Taguig. This is great news, not only because of the new infrastructure project designed to decongest roads, but more so because it is proof of this administration’s political will.
The Taguig ITX project was briefly stalled because the contract with Ayala, who will build the terminal, stipulates that the government must pay them PhP277-M a year for 35 years. But Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade was firm in his stance that government must no longer pay Ayala, who will already benefit from the terminal’s income.
“If you have a contract with the government at may pakinabang ka, wag mo nang pagbayarin ang gobyerno. You can fault me with many things, but not with two things: that I am lazy, and that I am a crook,” Tugade said.
As a result, the Ayala Group waived the fees. The government saved around PhP9.7-B and the project finally advances to its construction stage.

It will provide safe and convenient transfer facilities to passengers in the Laguna and Batangas side, while maximizing road usage within Metro Manila by reducing vehicle volume and improving traffic flow along major thoroughfares, particularly in EDSA.
