What Happened to OFW Unpaid Salary Claims against J&P Saudi Arabia

While Filipino Saudi Oger claimant saw some hope after the Saudi prince pledged P30.5 billion in payment for the claims of the displaced OFWs in 2015 to 2017. Another group of Filipinos are still waiting to get paid by one of the biggest Construction Company in Saudi Arabia, a Cypriot owned company J&P Saudi Limited.

In 2018, report from business-humanrights.org says that J&P Overseas has reportedly failed to pay over 6,000 workers (including hundreds of Filipinos) in Saudi Arabia and Oman several months' worth of salaries, after being liquidated. J&P Overseas has also allegedly failed to renew its employees' work permits, leaving them unable to travel abroad and vulnerable to being detained by the local authorities. Some workers claim to suffer from life-threatening illnesses, but cannot seek treatment due to expired health insurance.

Our company went under liquidation on October 2018. The Filipino employees were given only free meals without salaries for more than 8 months. They cannot travel to go home due to expired Iqama.

The photographs provided above were shared by my fellow J&P employees in Saudi Arabia and some photos with Secretary Bello in his office here in Manila.

Hopefully, the Department of Migrant Workers will take into consideration their case as well.
