Philippine stock market is now transitioning to Stage 2 (Advancing Stage)

COL Financial held a Question & Answer event for select active COL Premium clients where they invited their seasoned experts for a deep dive about everything investing.

As a COL client, I have a small investment in DITO Stocks since it has the cheaper rate for telecommunications right now ranging from two pesos and eighty centavos to three pesos and twenty centavos.

Given the risks still at play for the PH stock market, April Tan recommends picking stocks with attractive valuations and based on themes that have longer holding power (regional and local reopening, and higher interest rate environment)

For traders, Juanis Barredo recommends that they ride the trend until the market shows firmer signs of turning lower such as major trendline breaks, negative newsflow, or disconfirming price actions.

According to COL report, as the market started to recover, consumer and banking stocks were the first sectors that showed initial strength and recommend a portfolio mix of bonds and equities so investors can get yields and stay defensive while waiting for good stock opportunities.

And here are COL Fincial's Portfolia Advice:

  • For those who are fully invested but are lagging behind the gains of the market: Be patient. If you are concentrated in a particular sector, start diversifying into value names in the banking or consumer sectors.

  • For those who are not yet invested in the market: Make your money work and start investing today. Follow April Tan's COLing the Shots to get stock picks, and follow Juanis Barredo's daily reports for trading ideas and guidance.
