The Basketball tournaments at the Southeast Asian Games Cambodia 2023 took place from 5 – 17 May 2023. All athletes across Southeast Asia who have qualified will compete for gold medal and Gilas Pilipinas will try to take back the glory. Basketball 5x will be held at the Elephant Hall 2, Morodok Techo starting May 9 and the Finals will be held on May 16.
The only thing Gilas is waiting to cast in stone is the official World Cup draw on April 29 here in Manila to determine the opponents it will go to war with in front of Filipino fans.
According to Philstar report, the SEA Games, including the preparation and tournament proper, will only be a part of the grand plan for Gilas Pilipinas, which will include overseas training camps beginning in June for a full-swing World Cup build-up.

In the 2021 Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam, the Philippine Men's Basketball team settled for a Silver medal after losing to Indonesia in the Finals.

The Philippine Team in 2021 SEA Games was composed of Thirdy Ravena, Kib Montalbo, Kiefer Ravena, Jaydee Tungcab, Moala Tautuaa, Isaac Go, June Mar Fajardo, Roger Pogoy, Francis Lopez, Troy Rosario, William Navarro and Matthew Wright. Meanwhile the Philippine roster for the 32nd Cambodia SEA Games is yet to be named.

It is the first men's basketball gold for Indonesia, which went an undefeated 6-0 in the round robin tournament.
Indonesia snapped a run of 13-straight gold medals for the Philippines, a regional basketball powerhouse which hadn't lost a SEA Games title since 1989.
