Kudos to our hardworking Secretary as she went to Saudi Arabia for the bilateral talk against human trafficking and the pending salary claims of our OFW from the company that went under liquidation from 2015 to 2019.
Secretary Ople who left Manila on Sunday, 21 May 2023, is in Saudi Arabia for the resumption of bilateral labor talks with her Saudi counterparts. On the table as well are discussions for the resolution of pending claims for wages and other benefits due nearly 10,000 displaced overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who lost their jobs after their construction firms went bankrupt in the Kingdom from 2015-2016.
The Department of Migrant Workers led by Secretary Susan Ople meet with officials of the Saudi Human Rights Commission led by H.E. Dr. Hala Al-Tuwaijri. The two panels agreed to work together in the fight against human trafficking. They also discussed Saudi's referral mechanisms for cases involving abused migrant workers.
