Pinirmahan na ng pamahalaan, sa pangunguna ng National Privacy Commission, ang isang kasunduan katuwang ang mga telecommunications company sa bansa upang mas palakasin pa ang kampanya sa data protection at paglaban sa digital fraud at iba pang cybercrimes.
Isang joint task force ang binuo kasunod ng kasunduang ito para sa mas mabilis na koordinasyon, mas maayos na communication system, at mas maayos na pagpapatupad ng data privacy at protection measures sa bansa.
In a statement on Thursday, the NPC said the MOU was signed on Wednesday by Privacy Commissioner John Henry Naga, DITO Telecommunity representative Adel Tamano, Globe Telecom representative Irish Krystle Salandanan-Almeida, and Smart Communications representative Leah Camilla Jimenez.
“By virtue of the memorandum, a joint task force is established to foster coordination, communication, and implementation of the parties’ respective obligations regarding data privacy and protection, with NPC serving as the Secretariat,” it said.
