TALK ‘N TEXT WINS SEMIS OPENER AGAINST AIR21

IN the eyes of Chot Reyes, Talk ‘N Text struggled and was a bit rusty in its first game in two weeks. But the Tropang Texters sure didn’t look like it when they built a 21-point lead. And they certainly still had plenty of poise left when the Express made a run down the stretch.

 Paul Harris collected 31 points and 14 rebounds, and Ranidel de Ocampo came off the bench to produce a personal conference-high 27 points to go with 12 rebounds, as the No. 1 seeded team turned back the Express, 97-90, at the start of their best-of-five semi-finals series in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Friday night at the Araneta Coliseum. 

 Hardly slowed down by a twisted ankle suffered during the ballclub’s two-week break for making the Final Four outright, Harris shot 11-of-26 from the field in 41 minutes and poured in nine points in the final period as the Tropang Texters clinched their ninth win in a row since losing to Smart-Gilas (103-98) on Feb. 25 while extending their mastery off the Express to eleven games, too, in a near three-year span.
