Ginebra Kings defeats Alaska Aces

Rain or Shine intensified their defense at crunch time and held off the Powerade Tigers, 96-93, to win their 2nd game in the PBA All Filipino Cup Sunday at the Ynares Center.

Rookie star Paul Lee shone anew with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, but it was veteran player Jeff Chan who made the game-saving play on defense.

Chan blocked a potential game-tying 3-pointer from Powerade's Gary David at the dying seconds of the game. He also added 19 markers.

But it was not an easy victory as the two teams went back and forth throughout the game, and exchanged baskets in the final quarter.

Powerade's Doug Kramer gave his team the lead with 1:37 remaining, but it would be the last points scored by the Tigers.

Larry Rodriguez scored on a lay-up, Lee made 2 free throws and the Elasto Paintersplayed strong defense to hold off Powerade in the end game.

Lee once again lived up to his billing as the number 2 pick, despite struggling with foul trouble throughout the game.

His much anticipated match-up with fellow rookie Marcio Lassiter, however, did not materialize as both players were saddled with fouls.

"I just focused on the game and I didn't think about my fouls," Lee said in the post-game interview.

As for his match-up against Lassiter, Lee said he will let his game do the talking.

Lassiter finished with 12 points, while Kramer top-scored for Powerade with 16 markers.
