Ricky Pempengco, estranged father of international singing sensation Charice, died of multiple stab wounds close to midnight Monday at San Pedro, Laguna, in what appeared to be a drunken skirmish with still an unidentified killer.
Initial reports said the victim was drinking and left to buy a cigarette, when Capili, approached him and stabbed him with an ice pick. He reportedly sustained multiple stab wounds.
A news report said Pempengco, who was separated from Charice's mother Raquel, was attacked by Angel Capili Jr. at Andres Bonifacio road, Barangay Laram in San Pedro, Laguna.
It is believed that the incident was caused by a longtime grudge as investigators said both had a fight six years ago.
Meanwhile, a P100,000 reward was offered on Tuesday for information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect in the killing of the father of international singing sensation Charice Pempengco.
Chief Superintendent Ferdie Kraft, police chief of San Pedro town in Laguna where the crime was committed, said local authorities offered the reward to effect the immediate arrest of suspect Angel Capili, who allegedly stabbed Ricky Pempengco shortly before midnight on Monday.
