Typhoon Lawin Update- September 23, 2012

Typhoon "LAWIN" has intensified into a typhoon and moved closer to Samar provinces according to the latest weather bulletin from PAGASA. 

Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under public storm warning signal #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 10 - 20 mm per hour (heavy - intense) within the 600 km diameter of the Typhoon.

Southwest Monsoon enhanced by the Typhoon will bring light to moderate rains in Western Visayas and Mindanao.

Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao due to big waves generated by Typhoon "LAWIN".
