The film opens with a Russian gangster named Aleksei Sytsevich stealing a piece of tech from Oscorp. Spider-Man and the NYPD chase his armoured truck through New York. Electrical engineer and social outcast Max Dillon is walking through the streets with some blueprints. He is almost hit by a taxi that bounced off Aleksei's truck but thanks to Spider-Man, Max is saved. Max is surprised to learn that Spidey know his name, thanks to a badge on his shirt. Telling Spidey that he's a nobody, Spidey disagrees and reassures Max that he is a somebody and with that, he leaves. Spidey soon catches Aleksei and ties him up for the NYPD to find him.
