Bagyong 'Basyang' Latest PAGASA Update

The Tropical Depression east of Mindanao is about to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and is named"BASYANG".

According to PAGASA, at 4PM today, the center of Tropical Depression"BASYANG" was estimated based on all available data at 1,108 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (8.6°N 136.4°E) with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center. It is forecast to move west at 30 kph.
Residents living in low lying and mountainous areas under public storm warning signal #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 - 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.

Expected to make landfall over Surigao Provinces late Friday evening or early Saturday morning.

Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon and of Visayas due to Tropical Depression "Basyang" and the Northeast Monsoon.
