INTERNATIONAL PREMIER TENNIS LEAGUE
2015 - FORMAT

League Format
The teams compete in a customized round robin format of matches in each host country. The top two teams at the end of the round robin stage qualify for the Finals. The winner of the Finals is declared the Champion for the IPTL season.

League Standings
The League standings are determined on the basis of the Win-Loss percentage of overall games won versus lost therefore making every game played count. The two teams with the best ratios qualify for the finals.

Tied For Second Place
In the event that two teams are tied for the second place, the following criteria determines which team qualifies for the finals:
Head-to-head results;
Largest winning margin, by games, in any single match; and • Coin toss.
Match Format
Each match consists of 5 sets:
Men’s Singles;
Women’s Singles;
Men’s Doubles;
Mixed Doubles; and • Legends’ Singles.
The home team decides the order of play of the 5 sets. A Coin Toss determines who picks the order of play in matches where 2 neutral teams are competing.
Substitutions
Each team is allowed one substitution per set
During a set, a doubles player can be substituted by another doubles player, singles player or a Legends player
During a set, a Singles player can be substituted by another singles player or a doubles player
During a set, a legends player can be substituted by another legends player only
In case a player is injured and there is no available substitution, the team loses the set with the Winning team receiving a total 6 points for that set
Match Scoring
Each set is played in a no-ad scoring format.
Each set is first-to-six-games with a Shoot Out at 5-5.
Shoot-Out:
o If in any set, the score is tied at 5-5, a 13-point tiebreaker is played to determine the winner.
o The first team to win 7 points, the 6-6 final point wins the Shoot Out and hence the set. A 2-point difference is not required.
o It is NOT time bound (unlike Season 1).
Each game (and shoot-out) won by a team counts as One point in the team scoring total
The team that wins the most games and hence points, at the end of the five sets, wins the match.
Super Shoot Out:
o If the two teams are tied at the end of the five (5) sets, a super shoot-out is played in a Men’s singles format to determine the winner of the match.
o It is played as a 19-point super tiebreaker. The first team to win 10 points, the 9-9 final point wins the Super Shoot Out and hence the match. A 2-point difference is not required.
o It is NOT time bound (unlike Season 1).
o It counts as one point in the overall match score.
Last Set Importance
The final set of each match is played until the team with the highest overall score wins the final game. However, if the second placed team wins the fifth set and is still behind in the total number of games won, the set continues until that teams wins enough games to tie the overall games score, or the leading team wins one more game. If the overall game score gets tied, then a Super Shoot Out is played.
Coca-Cola Power Point
A receiving player can call the Coca-Cola Power Point (formerly Happiness Power point) to indicate that the next point counts as double.
Each team can call a Coca-Cola Power-Point maximum once per set.
Time-Out
• Each team can call for a Coach’s Time-Out (at any time) once in each set. • Each Time-Out lasts for 60 seconds only.
Shot Clock
The Shot Clock keeps track of time as follows:
20 seconds between Service points;
45 seconds during changeovers
3 minutes during breaks between sets;
Any team that runs out the Shot Clock loses a point.
Change Over
• Players change ends for the first time after 3 games and then after every 2 games. • A 45-second Shot Clock monitors the changeover.
New Balls
New balls are provided for each set. Ball changes are not permitted during a set.

Hawk-Eye Review / Player Challenges
Each team is entitled to a maximum of:
i. 3 Challenges in each set; any unused challenges can not be carried forward to the next set or the Super Shoot Out
ii. 1 Challenge only in the Super Shoot Out.
Coin-Toss
A Coin Toss decides which team serves first in the first set of each match.
The team which served last in the previous game / Shoot Out of the previous set will automatically be the receiver in the next set.
In case of a Super Shoot Out, a Coin toss decides who serves first.
The Final
The top two teams in the league qualify for the final and face off for the League championship
The final will be played in the same format at the other matches and the team which wins the most number of games in the five sets, wins the match & hence the League Championship title.
In case of a tie at the end of the five sets, the same match rules apply & a Super Shoot Out is played in the Men’s singles format to decide the winner.
