Today is the 11th death anniversary of Fernando Poe Jr., National Artist for Cinema.
"Ronald Allan K. Poe was a cultural icon of tremendous audience impact and cinema artist and craftsman--as actor, director, writer and producer," writes the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. "The image of the underdog was projected in his films such as Apollo Robles, Batang Maynila, Mga Alabok sa Lupa, Batang Matador and Batang Estibador, Ako ang Katarungan, Tatak ng Alipin, Totoy Bato, Asedillo, Partida, and Ang Probisyano, among many others."
