MORE FLIGHTS FROM NEW CLARK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The Department of Transportation encouraged airlines to offer more flights from the Clark International Airport to decongest NAIA.

 The domestic aircraft movement at Clark saw a dramatic jump from 286 in 2016 to 4,500 in 2017, posting a 1,473% increase, and servicing a total of 360,573 passengers. Its international operations also went up from 5,287 in 2016 to 6, 484, a 23% increase, servicing a total of 969,669 passengers.


This 2017, the airport enjoyed an increase in passenger target from January to December 30, 2017, the airport registered more than 1.5 million passengers, surpassing its highest record of over 1.3 million passengers served in 2012.

There are now 16 domestic destinations offered in Clark including the seven new domestic flights being offered by PAL starting December 2017, namely: Masbate, Catarman, Calbayog, Tagbilaran, Bacolod, Cagayan De Oro, and Virac. Also, Air Asia now has a Caticlan flight. The other domestic destinations are Basco, Cebu, Kalibo, Davao, Puerto Princesa, Busuanga, EL Nido, Balesin, and Bacolod.

For international flights, Clark is offering eight international destinations, namely: Busan, Doha, Dubai, Hong Kong, Incheon, Macau, Pudong in China, and Singapore.

UPGRADING REGIONAL AIRPORTS

All over the country, airports are being improved and modernized. Expansion and improvement works have started for Bacolod (Silay) Airport, Davao International Airport, Iloilo Airport, and Laguindingan Airport.

To accommodate wide body aircraft, which are used in regional flights, runway lengthening and widening projects in Kalibo, Virac, Calbayog, Ozamiz and Cotabato have begun.
