October 21 is 'National Day of Celebration' for Blessed Pedro Calungsod

October 21 waas declared as  'National Day of Celebration' for Blessed Pedro Calungsod.

President Benigno Aquino III declared October 21, 2012 as a National day of Celebration on the canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod. Blessed Pedro Calungsod will be the second Filipino Saint after St. Lorenzo Ruiz was declared Saint earlier.

The President approved Proclamation No. 481 to honor the ‘life and martyrdom’ of Calungsod, who is set to be proclaimed in Rome on that day as the second Filipino saint.


After the canonization, the Blessed Pedro Calungsod will be officially called locally as “San Pedro de Cebu,” the Cebuanos’ representative in heaven. Read more about Blessed Pedro Calungsod, click here!
